The remote village can only be reached by dugout canoe or with little four-seater airplanes. On days with a lot of traffic, up to five planes land on the bumpy runway. They carry goods required in the community or transport passengers to the next town when they have to deal with authorities or to do business from time to time. In the case of severe illness or accidents, for instance snakebites, the planes are the only possibility for the patients to reach a hospital or to receive vital drugs in reasonable time. In bad weather conditions, the community sometimes cannot be accessed by airway for weeks.
